Charles W. Shipman was the son of Edward Shipman and Elizabeth Thompson. Edward was the oldest brother in the family of Daniel Shipman and Elizabeth Austin. He was a Captain of the Union -Second Tennessee Mounted Infantry in the Civil War...made up of men from Wayne and Hardin County. He is buried in Clifton Cemetery in Wayne County.
